Turkish Garlic & Yoghurt Sauce

Sometimes the simplest things in life are the tastiest. This super-easy Turkish garlic yoghurt sauce is packed with flavour and perfect for drizzling over meats, fish or vegetables. It’s the tasty of Turkey with every delicious spoonful.

This simple Turkish Garlic & Yoghurt Sauce is the perfect partner for all kinds of Middle Eastern Fare. Excellent with meat and poultry, game and even fish it's a creamy, garlicky dream!
This recipe is part of my Mediterranean and Mediterranean Salads & Vegetables collections, highlighting fresh, sun-kissed produce and bright regional flavours.
This sauce is ubiquitous in every Istanbul kebab shop and it's slathered over everything! There are many varieties of yoghurt sauces and accompaiments in Turkish cuisine - Caçik (essentially the same as Greek Tzatziki) which features cucumber and the delicious Haydari, a thick yoghurt, garlic and herb Mezze that is something quite spectacular.
You could also try the magnificently garlicky Lebanese Toum for a flavour explosion.
Garlic Breath - worth it!
The garlic is strong in this dish so, if you're doing anything for the next week or so, steer clear. The yoghurt is so perfect with grilled meats like kebabs, and works with seafood too. It's a great sour, cold note to warm, spiced meats. I could eat it on everything.
If I'm feeling super lazy, I like nothing more than pigging out on a bowl of this Turkish garlic & yoghurt sauce and loaf of bread and absolutely no interruptions! It's as easy to prepare as it is addictive so get yourself ready for some easy breezy Turkey breath!

Nice, easy recipe, however 1 tsp salt to yoghurt ratio… too intense for us. Needed fixing but it worked, in the end good flavour!
Lesson learned for next time.
Thanks for your comment.
I’ve adjusted the recipe as I most likely used sea salt at the time I created this recipe. This by volume, would have created less salty results than 1tsp of regular table salt.
To be safe, 1/2 tsp of any salt would be best. Thanks again :)
the best so easy to make and amazing taste making home made chicken donner wraps goes perfectly. yummmmm
Thankyou! It’s such an easy and versatile little sauce. It goes with everything. Glad you enjoyed :)
FOR HOW LONG I CAN KEEP IN THE FRIDGE?
You can keep in the fridge for 3-5 days (in an airtight container).
So easy. I gotta try this – would it work with fish?
Absolutely – delicious with pretty much anything. Enjoy.
