Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What are the essential ingredients in Italian cooking?

Olive oil, tomatoes, garlic, fresh herbs, good pasta, parmesan, stock, beans and seasonal vegetables are at the heart of everyday Italian cooking.

Are these recipes traditional or your own?

Many are rooted in traditional Italian methods, but all recipes are tested, refined and written in my own cooking style. Having lived in Italy, in the Abruzzo region, I have traveled around the country and picked up helpful tips and tricks from friends along the way — so some recipes are adapted from those lived experiences.

Do I need special equipment to cook Italian food?

Not usually — a saucepan, frying pan, baking dish and a good pot for pasta will get you through most dishes. When you do need special equipment, I’ll usually send you to a product that will do the job (an affiliate link).

I’m new to Italian cuisine — where should I start?

Begin with simple pastas, tomato sauces or risottos. They teach the fundamentals of Italian cooking.
